Design Principle Reading Discussion
pgs. 192-233
Three design principles from this reading that I will find useful for displaying my media are Readability, Rule of Thirds, and Serial Position Effect.
Readability will be important for the text I am writing. There will be no large words or difficult concepts. A simple text accompanied by the pictures and videos should get the message across effortlessly to the audience. They should not have to "work" to get the message.
Rule of Thirds is important in the framing of the photos I am taking and the video(s) that I am making. One interview I took yesterday was notable to me for it's rule of thirds placement of the speaker and the other items in the scene. Rule of thirds may also prove to be useful in the arrangement of groups of pictures on the finished presentation.
Serial Position Effect will mean that the first things I present will make a lasting impression on the viewer and the message developed early will be strong enough to carry the middle less shocking display of media along. The end presentation will have to summarize and reinforce the original presented items and bring the overall scope of the suggestions back to the viewer.
